Triage notifications with Activity

Open   Activity from your sidebar to quickly review all your notifications. Think of it as a place to focus your attention or to get caught up after some time away from Slack.

Work from Activity

When you open Activity, you’ll land in the All tab – a chronological feed of your notifications. Click each tab to switch between the different types of notifications, such as mentions, replies to threads or reactions to your messages.

  • A dot on a message indicates new activity.
  • Use the Unread messages toggle in the top right-hand corner of the navigation pane to only see new messages.
  • Reply in-line without leaving Activity, or click on any message to jump to its original conversation.

Note: If you’ve configured your notifications for all new messages in a channel, only those that mention you will show in Activity

Filter unread activity

Each notification type that appears in Activity has its own filter. Using the filters, you can adjust the feed to see the latest unread notifications, or switch to All to revisit all your notifications.

All View all your notifications in chronological order.
Mentions Messages that you’ve been mentioned in will be listed with the name of the conversation, the name of the person who mentioned you and a preview of the message.
Threads A list of replies to threads that you’re following or threads that you’ve been mentioned in.
Reactions When someone reacts to your messages, your Activity view will update to show the message and all of its reactions.
Invitations View invitations to collaborate in Slack. This includes Slack Connect invitations, channels that you’re added to and canvases that have been shared with you.
Apps View messages from apps, such as Google Calendar invitations or updates from JIRA.

Tip: Keep the Activity tab open at all times by opening it in a separate window.

Or click the   three dots icon to:

Understand badges

You’ll see a badge on   Activity in the sidebar every time you receive a notification. Reactions to your messages won't trigger a badge, but you will be able to view which messages have new reactions as they happen.
