Export and import Slack workflows

You can export workflows to share them outside Slack. People that you share the export file with can import the workflow into their workspace or organisation. 

What to expect

• Workflow managers can export workflows that they manage. Anyone with permission to create workflows can import them.
• It’s not currently possible to export workflows containing custom steps, custom triggers or connector steps. Stay tuned for additional export capabilities in the future.
• Owners and admins can disable workflow exports on your workspace or organisation. If you can't see the option to export, find an owner or admin to ask for help.

Export a workflow

Workflows will be exported as a .JSON file.

1. From your desktop, hover over   More, then select   Automations.
   
2. Click  Managed by you. 
3. Click the  pencil icon next to the workflow that you'd like to export.
4. Click the three dots icon in the top-right corner, then click Export workflow. Your workflow will be exported as a .JSON file. 

Import a workflow

1. From your desktop, hover over   More, then select   Automations.
   
2. Click   New workflow in the top right.
3. Click the three dots icon in the top-right corner, then select Import workflow.
4. Choose the workflow file that you'd like to import, then click Open.
5. If you'd like to, customise the imported workflow. When you're ready, click Finish up, then click Publish.
