Share an update with an audio or video clip

What you'll learn in five minutes or less: How to convert a scheduled meeting to a series of audio and video clips.

Keep your team up to date without the hassle of juggling calendars and give everyone the flexibility to catch up when it’s convenient.

Go for it!

  1. Open the channel that you want to share your update in.
  2. Let the team know what to expect by writing a message that introduces audio and video updates. If you need some inspiration, use the following example and customise it as needed.

Try saying it with a clip!
It’s a busy time of year so I want to propose something that can help us reduce the number of meetings and free up time to focus. Let’s try using audio and video updates in Slack for a few weeks and see if it’s something that we want to continue.

    What to expect:

    • Instead of scheduling a meeting, record an audio or video clip covering the information that you want to share. Feel free to share your screen when you record.

    • When you see clips shared in the channel, watch them whenever you have a few minutes to spare during the day. Ask questions or leave comments in thread.

    • If you want to discuss something live, consider starting a Huddle to chat.

I’m excited to try this and see how it goes! We can all use the meeting time that we saved to go for a walk or brew a fresh cup of coffee.🚶☕

  3. When you’re ready to start recording, click the  video camera icon in the message field. Select a screen to share, if you like, and then click on Record. To record audio only, click the  microphone icon and start talking.
  4. When you’ve finished, click Stop.
  5. If you recorded a video clip, click Done.
  6. Add a message if you'd like to, then send your clip.
