Canvases: Organize information for your team

What you'll learn in 5 minutes or less: How to use a canvas to share key information for anything you’re working on, like a team overview or a project brief.

Every channel and direct message (DM) has a canvas, but you can also create a standalone canvas and share it with others whenever you need. Anyone in a conversation can open the canvas to view the centralized resources without having to search or scroll back in time.

Project brief

  1. Open your team’s channel.
  2. Click the   canvas icon in the conversation header.
  3. In the canvas, you can add details about your team, upcoming dates, important resources — or whatever information you need easy access to.

Here's an example of what this could look like:
Open canvas in a team channel containing key information including vision, list of teammates, upcoming schedule, and important resources
  1. From your desktop, click the plus button in the sidebar.
  2. Click Canvas to create a new canvas.
  3. Add content that’s relevant to your project, like goals, checklists, links to messages — anything you’d like. Only you’ll have access to this canvas until you share it.
