With Microsoft Intune Mobile App Management without enrollment (MAM-WE), organizations can add Slack to a set of trusted apps to ensure sensitive business data stays secure on unmanaged personal mobile devices. This allows admins to manage Slack access and security for members without taking full control of employees’ devices. Before setting up Slack for Intune, keep the following in mind:
All members must have a Microsoft Intune account with the proper Microsoft Intune license assigned.
All members must belong to a security group targeted by an app protection policy that targets the Slack app before registering their app.
Azure Active Directory (AD) accounts are not required to use Intune; however, you'll need someone with Azure AD admin access as well as Intune admin access to configure the proper permissions.
Note: Our Slack for Intune app also supports mobile device management (MDM) solutions via Intune for customers who are interested in managing enrolled devices.
You can set up app configuration and app protection policies for the Slack for Intune app from the Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center. Visit the Microsoft Help Center for a full list of available app protection policies for apps on iOS and Android devices.
What members can expect
Members will need to download the Slack for Intune app from the App Store or Play Store. Members will then need to complete the app registration.
Members must sign in to both Intune (via their Microsoft account) and Slack.
The Slack for Intune app is restricted to workspaces that are part of an Enterprise Grid organization. Members should use the regular Slack app for any non-work workspaces they may be in.
Who can use this feature?
Org Owners and Org Admins
Available on the Enterprise Grid plan
