Migrating legacy workflows to the new version of Workflow Builder
On June 28, 2023, we began rolling out a new version of Workflow Builder. Once customers have access to the new Workflow Builder, we’ll migrate most workflows created with the legacy version to the new version. Read on to learn more about the migration process and the steps you can take if some of your workflows cannot be migrated.
What to expect
We’ll begin migrating workflows in September 2023. The timing of the migration for your workspace or org’s workflows will depend on the types of steps they contain and how many total workflows have been created.
Before the migration, you’ll see two tabs when you open Workflow Builder — one labeled Workflows, and another labeled Legacy workflows. Workflows you create with the new version of Workflow Builder will show up in the Workflows tab, and any created with the legacy version will show up in the Legacy workflows tab.
Until September 2024, you’ll retain access to the legacy version of Workflow Builder if some of your workflows cannot be migrated.
Beginning September 12, 2024, any of your unmigrated workflows will stop running and you won't be able to access them. You'll need to rebuild these with the new Workflow Builder if you'd like to continue using them.
Note: Once a workflow is migrated, the Last edited date will reflect the date of the migration (if the workflow hasn’t been edited since).
Manage your unmigrated workflows
There are a few types of workflows we’re not able to automatically migrate to the new version of Workflow Builder. Here’s what you can do:
Workflows with steps from apps (other than Google Sheets “Add a row”) We recommend recreating these workflows with the new version of Workflow Builder. To see a full list of steps you can use to integrate workflows with other services, open Workflow Builder and click Create Workflow. Choose how you’d like your workflow to start, then browse the list of available steps.
Premium workflows The types of steps a workflow contains determines whether it’s a standard or premium workflow. Any workflows that would be considered premium will not be migrated, but you can recreate them with the new version if you’d like.
Unpublished workflows To use these workflows again, you can recreate them with the new version (or delete them if you no longer need them). If you publish an unpublished workflow after your migration is complete, it will not be automatically moved over.
Workflows in archived channels Delete these workflows if you won’t need to use them in the future. Otherwise, you can rebuild them with the new Workflow Builder.
Note: If one or more of your workflows weren’t migrated and do not meet the criteria above, let our Support team know so we can help out.
