When you need to share long-form content that won’t fit in a simple message (like project plans or meeting notes), create a post. Posts let you collaborate and share fully-formatted documents with your teammates directly in Slack.
Note: You can view posts on Slack’s mobile apps, but you’ll need to use Slack on your desktop to create and edit them.
Create a post
From your desktop, click the lightning bolt icon to the left of the message field to open the shortcuts menu.
Select Create a post from the menu.
Enter a title and begin typing. Your post will be saved automatically.
To format your post, highlight a portion of text and select a formatting option from the menu.
To add an image, paste an image URL.
Note: An image won’t display in a post if Slack can’t detect the image’s file extension or the image URL is included in a list.
View posts in your workspace
From your desktop, click File browser at the top of your left sidebar. If you don't see this option, click More to find it.
Open the File type drop-down menu, then select Posts.
If you’d like to narrow your results, select additional filters.
To open a post, click the Edit in new window icon.
Share a post
Open a post.
Click Share in the top right.
Under Share in, search for a channel or person.
To allow shared editing, check the box next to Let others edit this post.
Click Share to finish.
If you allow shared editing, only one person can edit a post at a time. Any member can edit a public post, but posts shared in private channels and direct messages (DMs) can only be edited by members of those conversations.
Tip: You can also copy a link to a post. Click Share, then select Copy link in the bottom-left corner.
Edit a post
Open a post.
Make your changes. If you didn't create the post, click Edit first.
