Slack organizes conversations in your workspace into dedicated spaces called channels. Channels bring the right people and information together for a common purpose — like a specific project, topic, or team. Keep reading to learn how to browse and join the channels in your workspace.
Tip: If you've been invited to work with another company in a channel using Slack Connect, learn how to accept the invitation.
All members (but not guests) can browse and join public channels in their workspace. For a private channel, you must be added to it by a member of that channel.
Click Channel browser at the top of your left sidebar. If you don't see this option, click More to find it.
Browse the list of public channels in your workspace, or use the search bar to search by channel name or description.
Select a channel from the list to view it.
Click Join Channel.
Tap Search at the bottom of your screen.
Tap Browse channels.
Search for a channel or select one from the list.
Tap Join Channel.
Tip: If you know the name of the channel you'd like to join, you can type /join followed by # and the channel name in the message field and send the message.
