Re-enable a deactivated member's bot user

Legacy bot users created by a workspace member automatically stop working if the member’s account is deactivated. To re-enable an affected bot, Workspace Owners and members with permission to manage apps can transfer ownership to themselves.

Transfer bot user ownership

  1. From your desktop, click your workspace name in the sidebar.
  2. Hover over Tools & settings, then click Manage apps to open the Slack App Directory.
  3. From the sidebar, select Custom Integrations
  4. Next to the bot user you'd like to re-enable, click the   pencil icon.
  5. Below API Token, click Enable.
  6. Click OK to confirm. The bot’s API token will be regenerated, and you’ll need to update the bot’s code and any scripts or libraries it uses with the new token.
  7. Click OK to reload the page and access your new API token.

Tip: To re-enable a Hubot or Lita bot, find and select it from the Manage apps page. Then, click the Configurations tab.
